Here we go again. UK Lockdown 2.0.
I mean, BIG SIGH.
Trying to write an inspiring blog post when we’ve just been put back into lock down is really bloody hard. Because actually, regardless of whether lockdown is a good idea or not, I am pissed off that my freedom has been taken away from me.
I am pissed off that I can’t go where I want and see whoever I want whenever I want.
I feel like throwing a petulant fit that would rival any toddler, feet stamping and throwing self on the floor screaming included.
I’m sure it wouldn’t get me very far. And it probably wouldn’t even help me feel any better. (Although imaging myself doing that has put a smile on my face, what a ridiculous image!)
What I did instead, which is what I always do when I need inspiration, is looked at Pinterest for quotes that could help me.
This one came up. It’s not new to me, it’s one of my favourites, but I needed to see it today.
“Accept then Act. Whatever the current moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously change your whole life.” Eckhart Tolle.
So, how can I work with this situation?
I wrote a blog post earlier this year about how I wanted to be able to hibernate this winter. To slow life down, take my time and have nothing to do but snooze under a blanket.
Maybe now is a good time to do that.
I have got work to do, I am building a business after all, so that cannot stop, but I can limit myself to a small amount of hours (it’s amazing what I can get done when I’m on the clock!)
And I want to get outside and walk, I need to, I have committed to walking the Cumbrian Way in May 2021, so I will need to get plenty of practice in before then, it’s 175 miles and I am not exactly the fittest person right now.
Maybe this can be great for me. It’s not exactly what I had envisioned, but I think I can make it work.
I know everyone’s situation is different. As they say, we are not all in the same boat but we are in the same storm, but I hope that you can also find a way to make lockdown your friend, even if grudgingly.
