Welcome to 2022

Well, it’s 2022 already! Where did 2021 go? It seemed to pass in a blur. In some way’s I’ve done loads in 2021, there’s plenty for me to be proud of and grateful for. But it also feels like I’ve been holding back, pausing and waiting for things to go back to “normal”, whatever that means. Even a “new normal” would have been nice.

2022 looks more promising on that front, but then so did 2021, so I’m not prepared to wait anymore. My intention is to get out there and do what I can with the situation at hand. I hope you are feeling ready to do the same. If you’re not feeling ready for that yet, don’t worry, just be really gentle with yourself.

I’m not a big one for new year’s resolutions – partly because like the vast majority of people that make them, they go out the window by the middle of January. What I’ve done this year is think of a few things I intend to work on, and it’s a little different to the norm.

In 2022 I intend to share any uncomfortable emotions that come up for me with my loved ones.

I have handled big and uncomfortable emotions alone and in secret for the most part. Feeling embarrassment and shame if they came out in front of others, even people really close to me. But they are not embarrassing or shameful, and do not need to be apologized for.

If you are someone who weeps in the shower, cries into your pillow, or has meltdowns at traffic lights while you’re driving alone, leaving your family and friends non-the-wiser to the fact you are struggling, this one could be for you too.

I’m going to allow myself to be both capable and incapable.

I know that sounds odd – but I need to do both.

With some things I feel like I am capable of much more than what I allow myself to do and to shout about. A fear of success, resulting in a fall from grace. Pride comes before a fall perhaps.

With other things I feel like I have to struggle on and do it myself when it would be easier, quicker and more effective to ask for help. Some things you can’t do on your own. I have even turned to a fellow therapist for support because, no matter how many tools you have, it’s near impossible to hold a healing, open space for yourself and listen and provide new perspectives.

If you are someone that’s been treading water, not getting as far as you’d like to, starting and not finishing or trying to resolve everything on your own and not quite getting there, this one could be for you too.

That’s it.

Sure, I’d like to lose loads of weight, get fit, climb mountains, start cold water swimming, travel and earn the money to do all of the above, but we’ll see how it goes.

If I can help you make 2022 your year, just get in touch – if you get in touch soon you may still be able to get this special offer to work with me.

About Anxiety

Anxiety affects everyone in different ways. Whether its general anxiety, phobias, addictions, habits, weight issues or anything else you do it your own way. So, it stands to reason that the solution should be as individual as you are. I use a range of techniques, such as Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, EFT, Reiki and many other tools I’ve picked up along the way to work with YOU to find the best fit. We can work online from the comfort of your own home, or you can arrange to come to my private therapy room near Carlisle, Cumbria.
